New York City Department of Education Chancellor Richard A. Carranza has asked Superintendents Ilene Altschul of Community School District 3, Alexandra Estrella of Community School District 4, Danika Rux of Community School District 5, and Manuel Ramirez of Community School District 6 to:
- Identify and strengthen community partnerships in Harlem and El Barrio and rebuild relationships and trust between the community and the Department of Education (DOE)
- Use and share resources equitably to ensure that schools are providing high quality educational options for students in Harlem and El Barrio
- Hear directly from community members in order to highlight what is working in our local schools and begin to change what’s not
The DOE is looking for people who love a school age child in this community to share their opinions in the Harlem and El Barrio Educational Partnership Community Outreach Survey (Spanish, French). All survey responses will be kept confidential and anonymous.
All survey information will need to be completed by January 25, 2019.
If you want to share your ideas in person, please let us know of your interest in joining a Community Conversation. There are limited spots and they will be filled based on ensuring that multiple stakeholders and perspectives are heard.
