IMPORTANT NOTICE (UPDATE)

 

M15 Bus Stop Relocation from 99th Street to 97th Street on Second Avenue

(Beginning on or around March 1st, 2012)

 

In support of the Second Avenue Subway (SAS) project, MTA contractors will be relocating the southbound local M15 bus stop currently located at 99th Street and Second Avenue.  The new location of the bus stop will be further south towards 97th Street and Second Avenue.  

 

Signs and instructions will be posted at 99th Street and Second Avenue where the old stop was located for direction to the new bus stop location. 

 

Please note the scope and nature of construction activities are subject to change based upon field conditions. We appreciate your patience during construction.

Please be advised that Second Avenue Subway contractors working on the 96th Street station will begin working an extra shift starting Monday, February 6th, 2012, from 3:00pm-10:00pm.

The addition of this shift is to complete Entrance #1 and #2 work in order for slurry wall construction to begin in March.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

 

Lane Reduction on Second Avenue beginning on or around January 23rd, 2012

 

In support of the Second Avenue Subway (SAS) project, MTA contractors will be reducing Second Avenue to three traffic lanes (from four traffic lanes) from 101st Street to 99th Street.  This change will occur the week of January 23rd, 2012. This lane reduction is necessary for preparation of slurry wall installation due to the size of the equipment being utilized.

 

There will be three lanes of traffic maintained at all times.  Furthermore, NYPD Traffic Enforcement Agents will be placed at the intersections of Second Avenue and 101st, 100th, and 99th Streets.  This lane reduction will be in place through the summer of 2012.

January 14, 2012

 

Extension of Saturday Work Hours  At 96th Street 

 

MTA contractors will be working this Saturday from 7am to 10pm in order to install Deck Beams in the 96th street intersection. 

 

This work is being performed over the weekend in order to prevent a center- lane closure that would have normally occurred over several weekdays. This change will prevent impacting nearby schools and busier weekday pedestrian traffic crossing Second Avenue.

December 22, 2011

 

Update on the contractor’s holiday work schedule is as follows:

 

63rd St. Station Area 

The contractor, Judlau, will end their shift at 3PM on Friday, December 23.   There will be no work from Saturday, December 24 through Monday, December 26 and on Monday, January 2.

 

72nd St. Station Area 

The contractor, SSK, will work from 7AM – 11PM on Friday, December 23, but no blasting will be performed.  There will be no work from Saturday, December 24 through Monday, December 26 and on Monday, January 2.

 

86th St. Station Area

The contractor, STJV, will be working on Friday.  All work will be completed by 4PM.   There will be no work from Saturday, December 24 through Monday, December 26 and on Monday, January 2.

 

96th St. Station Area 

The tunneling contractor, S3TC, will be working underground on Friday until 10PM.  There will be no work from Saturday, December 24, through Monday, December 26 and on Monday, January 2.

 

EE Cruz/Tully JV will be working from 7AM - 10PM on Friday at 97th Street.  The last 3 hours of work will be clean up of jet grouting. There will be no work from Saturday, December 24 through Monday, December 26 and on Monday, January 2.

 

Additionally, the air quality report for the 72nd Street Area is currently being finalized and will be provided to Community Board 8 for distribution in January 2012.   We will be presenting the results of the report at the next CB8 meeting which will be scheduled in late January, details to be announced.

 

 

October 21, 2011

 

Beginning Monday October 24th, 2011 until the Spring of 2012, the local M15 bus stop currently located mid-block on 2nd Avenue between 93rd Street & 94th Street will be relocated onto 2nd Avenue, between 92nd Street & 93rd Street (in front of 1779 Second Avenue Synergy Gym).

Thursday, July 28, 2011…Panel W43…2nd Ave b/t 97th & 99th Sts.

 

Monday, August 1, 2011…Panel W13…2nd Ave b/t 95th & 96th Sts.

 

Thursday, August 4, 2011..Panel 302…2nd Ave b/t 95th & 96th Sts.

 

There will be a total of two lifts per day, with approx. 1 hour between lifts.   2nd Ave subject to closure during the lifts.

Thursday, July 28, 2011.. Two crane lifts, First Lift @ 10AM+ /- …Second Lift approx. one hour after the first (2nd Ave b/t 97th St. & 99th St.)

July 20, 2011

 

Cruz/Tully will be performing the first crane lift  of the slurry wall rebar cages along the west side of 2nd Ave between 95th St. & 96th St.  (in front of Rite Aid/ Normandie Court)  There will be two lifts today.  The first lift is expected to occur sometime after 10:00AM.  There will be an approximate road closure of 15 minutes on Second Avenue @ 96th St, while the cage is being lifted from a horizontal to a vertical position. No vehicular traffic will be allowed to travel adjacent to the crane lift zone on Second Ave during this period. All pedestrian traffic will also be rerouted away from the crane lift zone.

96th Street will remain opened for crosstown vehicular and pedestrian traffic only.

 

95th Street will be closed due to the close proximity to the crane lift zone.

 

The intersections at 96th and 97th will be kept clear.

Upon completion of the first lift, traffic will be reopened to alleviate the congestion and then the second lift will occur.
