Economic Development Committee Mission Statement: “The Economic Development Committee of Manhattan CommunityBoard 11 (East Harlem) strives to enhance and establish economic opportunities for its residents and business owners. The committee seeks to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for the community by creating and retaining jobs, helping shape opportunities for our small business owners and fostering an atmosphere that encourages future generations to continue the workthat has been initiated.”  

 

 

Manhattan Community Board 11 Liquor License Application Applicants are required to complete and return the CB11 LiquorLicense Application Questionnaire (see attachment further below) to the Community Board office by mail, fax, oremail within 15 days of receipt of notification. If requested to present to theSLA Subcommittee, please bring 10 copies plus supporting material requested tothe meeting. Failure to complete and return the questionnaire on time willresult in agenda recommendation to reject the application due to failure torespond to the request of the Community Board. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to contact Norma Ojeda at the Board office, 212-831-8929/30.  Also see below for a diagram of the CB11 LiquorLicense Application Process.


  

East Harlem Retail Analysis While our commercial corridors in East Harlem serve some of the community's needs, local residents often leave the community to purchase many of the goods and services they regularly consume.  Community Board 11's Planning Fellow Paul Costa surveyed which commercial needs are not being met locally to develop a strategy on how we can more effectively capture more of our disposable income locally (to supportlocal businesses and stimulate local job creation).  See the attached full report below titled "East Harlem CB11 Retail Analysis".

Community Board 11 Subsidy Snapshot Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer along with Good Jobs New York has put together a map which illustrates the subsidies that the NYC Industrial Development Agency has given out in East Harlem as of fiscal year 2006.
