East 125th Street Development

**Update - Manhattan Community Board 11 given the East 125th Street Development a Conditional Disapproval. The Resolution is attached for review. If you have any questions in regards to the decisions feel free to contact the office at 212-831-8929/30.

The East 125th Street Development - formerly Uptown NY - is approaching the final stages of community review. A special community-based taskforce has being working on the details of the project for over two years. During this time they have fought to ensure that the development provided substantial community benefits.

The taskforce was able to draft a Request for Proposal (RFP) that included income targeted housing, a cultural component and real local partnerships. Details of the RFP and related materials will be up on this website soon. If you require immediate information feel free to contact the Board Office (212-831-8929/30) or Councilmember Melissa Mark-Viverito's Office (212-828-9800).

The East 125th Street Development has now been certified and is officially in the City review process called ULURP. Manhattan Community Board 11 must comment on this project by June 2, 2008. In anticipation of this date, the Community Board will be holding a number of hearings and meetings. In addition, the East 125th Street Taskforce will also be holding public meetings and hearings. There are also plans for a joint town hall meeting, more details will follow shortly.

Manhattan Community Board 11 has sent a letter to Deputy Mayor Robert Lieber and Councilmember Melissa Mark-Viverito asking that the ULURP application be withdrawn. The letter is attached for your convenience (See Attachment: Viverito-Lieber East 125th Street ULURP).
