Public Safety & Transportation Committee
Meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

As the committee charged with the oversight and response to public safety concerns, we endeavor to address, advocate for and respond to any concerns brought before us that affect the security of our East Harlem community. Additionally we will monitor, assess and make recommendations in the best interest of the our community residents to ensure that transportation needs for pedestrians, vehicles and cyclists are met in a fair, convenient and responsible manner.”
The Public Safety & Transportation Committee is responsible for reviews requests for:
- Street and Avenue Name Changes – NYC Council
- changes to Parking Regulations – NYC Department of Transportation (DOT)
- the installation of Speed Bumps – NYC Department of Transportation (DOT)
Street and Avenue Name Change Policies and Procedures
All requests for street and avenue name changes must be brought before the CB 11 Public Safety and Transportation Committee for a vote and recommendation to our Full Board. Applicants should carefully read the CB11 Street and Avenue Name Change Policies and Procedures to understand the Board’s requirements for reviewing these requests.
Applicants should review the NYC Department of Transportations’ Ceremonial Street Naming Policy before submitting a request to CB11.
