Announcement on Commission on Government Efficiency

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani recently announced the appointment of the Commission on Government Efficiency (COGE), a Charter Revision Commission tasked with making City government work better for New Yorkers.

COGE will examine how the New York City Charter can better support public excellence by improving efficiency, modernizing city government, and ensuring government keeps pace with New Yorkers’ needs.  The commission will hold 10 public hearings across the five boroughs to hear directly from New Yorkers before proposals are brought to voters on the November ballot.

  • The first hearing is at New York Law School in Manhattan on Tuesday, June 9, at 5pm
    • It will focus on streamlining government for infrastructure projects and public realm improvements.
  • The second hearing is at Fordham University in the Bronx on Wednesday, June 10, at 5pm.
    • It will focus on streamlining government for small business and community organizations.
  • The third hearing is at Brooklyn Law School in Brooklyn on Thursday, June 11, at 5pm.
    • It will focus on modernizing government and streamlining government technology.

It’s important the Commissioners are hearing from New Yorkers from across the City.
