The Licenses & Permits Committee reviews applications for*:

Liquor Licenses – NYS Liquor Authority (SLA)
Street Activity Permits – Mayor’s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO)
Sidewalk Cafe Permits – NYC Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA)
Newsstand Licenses – NYC Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA)
Livery Base Station Licenses – NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC)
Cannabis Retail Licenses – NYS Office of Cannabis Management

*Applicants must adhere to the processes of the respective permitting and/or licensing agency.

The committee works to ensure that licensed establishments operate according to what was presented to the Board and helps mediate community concerns with businesses.

Liquor Authority Mapping Project (LAMP) – provides public records of all SLA licenses, including Legal Name, DBA, License #, Expiration, and Community Board Stipulations. (user guide).
SLA’s Enforcement Bureau – is responsible for investigating violations and enforcing the ABC Law.
Community Input – Input from municipalities and the local communities where applicants intend to operate their businesses is an essential part of the State Liquor Authority’s licensing process.
Mediating Establishment and Neighborhood Disputes (MEND) NYC – a new citywide initiative that provides free mediation and conflict resolution services to address a number of neighborhood disputes.
