It’s that time of year again – fall weather has arrived (at least for now) and we’re gearing up for a busy season of It’s My Park projects!
This fall, Manhattan’s It’s My Park “planting weekend” will be November 16th-17th. This is a shift from our usual October date because the frost and ground freeze dates have changed significantly over the last few years, impacting the timing of planting bulbs for the best results.
You can host It’s My Park projects on any day of the year, but if possible we encourage everyone to host your projects during the IMP planting weekend if you would like free bulbs from PfP. We do it this way so we can work closely with NYC Parks Department staff to focus our time and resources on making sure your project goes off without a hitch!
The deadline to apply for projects on the IMP “planting weekend” is Friday, October 4th; for all other project dates, the deadline is 2 weeks before the date of the event.
You can submit your application(s) by clicking here.
A few things to note:
- Tool Requests: Please remember to fill out this part of the application; if you do not list any tools we will assume that you have tools and/or won’t need any for your project.
- Bulbs: we will be distributing a selection of free bulbs during the IMP “planting weekend”; please note if you would like bulbs in your It’s My Park application under the tool request section.
- Approval: You will be notified if your project has been approved at least one week before your project date, or by October 18th for projects on the November 16th-17th “planting weekend.”
